Classes Starting Soon!

New Classes Starting January 30, 2012

Flight Instructor ~ Fundamentals of Instruction & Advanced Ground Instructor for your initial rating.

(click to enroll)

$ 299 Includes the Sport/Private/Instrument/Commercial Pilot courses.

Are you a licensed pilot with an instrument rating?  Do you have more than 200 flight hours?  Have you considered taking the next step and adding the Commercial and Flight Instructor certificates to your qualifications?  Having a pilot's license is a commitment to lifelong learning, a dedication to improving your flight skills, and helping others to enjoy aviation.  Becoming a Certificated Flight Instructor (CFI) is 99% mental and 1% stick-n-rudder skills.  Being a CFI is a commitment to a lifestyle; being a good aviator, safety conscious, knowledgeable, and a desire to mentor and share aviation with others in a positive manner.

At Stick-n-Rudder Flight Training, LLC® we have trained hundreds of new and experienced pilots, along with new and experienced flight instructors across Minnesota.  Join us for our next eight week ground school, Monday's 1700~2000 hours, at Fleming Field KSGS in South Saint Paul MN.  Learn what it takes to go from Private Pilot to Commercial Pilot to Certificated Flight Instructor. CFI Candidates will intern by student teaching with us the Commercial/Sport/Private Pilot course.

Flight Instructor Refresher Course ~ Two Year FIRC

$ 199 in advance or $ 239 at the door.  Course fee includes endorsements for your FAA paperwork upon completion of all eight weeks.

Additional FIRC classes and locations around the country coming to a location near you soon!  We are always looking for local flight schools to be a course co-sponsor.  Email us today.

Flight Instructors must renew their certificates every two years (14 CFR §61.197) with the FAA either by passing a Practical Exam for a new rating, providing proof of training successful students who became licensed pilots, or via a Flight Instructor Refresher Course (FIRC).  You will usually find these courses sold as a self-paced/online 'do it yourself' program, or at a two day accelerated clinic.  We believe a more meaningful approach to learning is to do it with others over an extended eight week program where you interact with, and also share in teaching the course with the other experienced CFI, CFI Candidates and real Student Pilots.

Sport, Private, and Commercial Pilot Certificate FAA Knowledge Test & Oral Examination preparation course.

$ 299 and includes endorsements for your FAA Knowledge Test prerequisites upon completion of all eight weeks.

Have you always wanted to learn to fly or just learn more about aviation from the ground up?  Have you already started flight training but have questions about FAA regulations, aeronautical decision making and weather, cross country flight planning and working with the E6B?  Trouble with weight & balance computations?  Are you getting ready for your Practical Exam with a Designated Pilot Examiner and need a refresher to prepare you for the Oral Examination? Are you ready to take the FAA Knowledge Test? Has it been a few years since you last flew, or are getting ready to take your biennial Flight Review?

This course will prepare you for each of those items and you will walk confidently into your next exam knowing that you have the knowledge to not just pass the exam, but to understand the questions and to be able to explain your answers to the examiner.  Sport, Private, and Commercial pilot applicants should attend this course.  CFI Candidates will learn the basics of being a flight instructor and begin to have "instructional knowledge" of the materials as required by FAA regulations for their practical examination.  These courses prepare CFI Candidates to teach student pilots and to develop your own courses.

Instrument Rating & Instrument Ground Instructor Course

All pilots should continue to hone their flight skills and learn to fly with precision. Having an instrument rating on your pilot certificate enables you to fly into, or above, the clouds should the need arise if your skills and aircraft capabilities allow.  An Instrument Rating will increase your skills for night flights as well.  It will teach you much more about cross country flight planning, interpreting weather systems, making go/no go decisions, crew/cockpit resource management, aeronautical decision making skills and aviation judgment than any of your prior flight training has done.

The course tuition fees are due the first night of class, textbook fees upon ordering. Individual instruction will be available at $ 50 per hour, two hour session minimum, if requested. The text materials are the 2012 Gleim courses and syllabi, and/or the official FAA Handbooks.  Books which are purchased in addition to the course instruction fee.  Kits ordered through Stick-n-Rudder Flight Training, LLC® receive free shipping.  Visit our new online store page at this link. Attention Independent Flight Instructors:  We pay generous referral fees if you refer your students to us for their ground instruction.  We can also bring a custom course to your airport if you have a larger group of students.  The most important part of learning to fly is a quality ground school.  Flight Training begins on the ground, not in the air.
